MUSIC / POETRY / WRITING
As a roster artist and educator at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute for over two years, Intikana collaborated with several brass orchestra groups to record four studio albums with youth in New York City. He has implemented his unique style of music therapy in urban communities throughout the United States, Canada, The Caribbean, Central America, South America, and Africa. He has conducted annual training at New York University, University of Michigan, and University of Wisconsin - Madison for teachers seeking to engage with Hip-Hop in the classroom. For one year, Intikana served as Arts Education Specialist at P.S. 7 Brooklyn Elementary School developing original curriculum for 4-8 year olds.
FILM
In collaboration with the Jacob Burns Film Center and Media Arts Lab, Intikana led a two-year Poetry / Film program where NYC youth who reside in group homes were able to record and film their own poems / raps in a professional state of the art studio. Each year, these youth learned to produce and edit their own Poetry / Music videos which were eventually screened in a professional movie theater.
